2011 – Culminating Activity INSTRUCTIONS

PART A (Choose one path)

PATH I – Flash MX Focus

You will use Macromedia Flash MX to continue your Flash Challenge or start from scratch and create a new Flash Movie. Your final Flash video should have some story line, music or sounds and opening and closing credits. Your final Flash video should demonstrate an adequate amount of work representative of a culminating project, so create as many scenes as possible.

Minimum Flash video requirements:

i)                    An opening credit or title shot

ii)                  6 scenes

iii)                600 frames

iv)                Backgrounds (imported or drawn)

v)                  A closing credit

 

SUBMIT your final Flash video as either an .swf or .avi file format. Submit your files in the Culminating Activity Submit folder that has your name.  Remember to label your files appropriately:

ex: grayc_final 1,

 

PATH II – PhotoShop Focus

You will use Adobe Photoshop Elements to create a small gallery of images that illustrate your understanding of effective visual design, combining various images, backgrounds and areas of text.

Acceptable types of projects could include:

Yearbook pages, Door Banners, Montage, Web Gallery Images

 

Your final PhotoShop images should demonstrate an adequate amount of work representative of a culminating project, so create as many images as possible.

Minimum PhotoShop images:

i)                    12 yearbook pages

ii)                  12 door banners

iii)                8 montages

iv)                40 web gallery images

 

SUBMIT your final images as both .psd & .jpeg file formats. Submit your files in the Culminating Activity Submit folder that has your name.  Remember to label your files appropriately:

ex: grayc_final 1,   grayc_final 2,   grayc_final 3

 

 

PART B (Your Media Website)

 

You will also have to complete your website. Examples of specific work from the semester must be attached to your website and your website must work properly.  Mr. Gray has posted the list of projects on the bulletin board near the exit door. Your website will represent 25% of your culminating activity mark.

Functionality

(20 marks)

Website should be fully functional and all links both internally and externally should work properly.

Originality & Creative Design

(20 marks)

This will include overall web design and the visual aspect of your website and the individual web pages.Remember, a website should be visually pleasing, and contrast is important for the viewer to be able to understand any text that is included in all your web pages.

Visual Content

(12 marks)

Website should have the required visual content properly added and ready to display to your teacher and peers by the required date (to be announced).The complete list of projects required is posted on the bulletin board in room 102. See Mr. Gray if there are any questions.

Written Content

(8 marks)

Your website should include a blog. Mr. Gray has provided 2 blog topics; you are free to decide what you would like to write about for the other blog entries.You should aim to have 5 blog articles and each article should have approx. 120 words.
