			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-family: Calibri;">NLSS will be hosting a </span><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Flea Market</span> <span style="font-family: Calibri;">on </span><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Saturday, May 5<sup>th</sup></span> <span style="font-family: Calibri;">in the </span>NLSS Foyer and Cafeteria<span style="font-family: Calibri;">. The Flea Market will run from </span><span style="text-decoration: underline;">11:00 am to 2:00 pm</span>.<span style="font-family: Calibri;"> All funds raised will go towards getting Thomas to camp this summer.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Thomas is going to attend Camp Kennebec in Arden, Ontario again for 6 weeks this summer. Camp Kennebec is a non-competitive inclusive summer residence camp for young people with ADHD, learning disabilities, behavioural needs and ASD. Programs focus on life and social skills for youth and young adults. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Estimated cost for this opportunity will be $10,000.00. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Calibri;">The NLSS Flea Market will have various venders, yard sale and baked items. Any donations of baked goods or yard sale items would be greatly appreciated. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Calibri;">If you would like more information or could support Thomas in any way, please talk to Lianne Spencer-Linklater or Jessica Carter.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Please plan to attend; this should be a great event to support a great student.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Soccer shirts will be in this week and the NLSS Soccer Program will start on </span>Monday, April 16, 2012<span style="font-family: Calibri;">. All games will be played on the <strong>Moosonee Arena Pad </strong>surface on <strong>Monday – Tuesday – Wednesday – Thursday </strong>from<strong> 4 pm to 5 pm. </strong></span><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Moose Factory soccer players that have a scheduled game will be eligible for transportation after their game.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: small;">NLSS Soccer Program players are NLSS students, NLSS staff and adult supporters of NLSS. If any parent is interested in being part of the NLSS soccer program, please contact me at the school, <a href="tel:%28705%29%20336%20%E2%80%93%202900" target="_blank">(705) 336 – 2900</a>. Deadline for signing up to play will be Wednesday, April 11</span><span><sup>th</sup></span><span style="font-size: small;"> at 3:45 pm. Parents, please ask your child if they have signed-up, team lists and game schedule will be shared this Friday.</span></span></p>

<p>A reminder to all that on <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Monday, November 28, 2011</span> there will be no classes for students as this is a designated professional development day for staff.</p>

<h4>NLSS Christmas Bazaar</h4>
<p>NLSS annual Christmas Bazaar will take place on <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Saturday, December 3, 2011</span>, doors open at 11 am and all proceeds raised by NLSS will support a school in Africa.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h4>Non-Perishable Food Items Needed for Elders’ Tea</h4>
<p>Once again NLSS students and staff will be hosting, along with the Moosonee Native Friendship Centre, an Elders’ Tea event on <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Tuesday, December 6, 2011</span>. This event is an occasion to recognize and honour our elders’. Students will be creating craft gifts, making decorations, preparing lunch / baking baked goods and running a non-perishable food drive. Parents are encouraged to support their child in bringing in items for the food drive; donations can be dropped off at the main office.</p>

<h4>Christmas Holidays</h4>
<p>NLSS Christmas holidays are from Monday, December 19, 2011 through to Monday, January 2, 2012.</p>
<p>Classes will resume on <strong>Tuesday, January 3, 2012.</strong></p>

<p>NLSS will be officially closed for Tuesday, November 15th due to a delay in the shipping of plumbing parts needed to fix a broken water line in the school. The water source for the school cannot be turned back on until the broken line is fixed. It is anticipated that the parts will be shipped tomorrow and repairs will be completed in order for the <em><strong>school to re-open</strong></em> on <em><strong>Wednesday, November 16, 2011</strong></em>.</p>
<p>If this is not the case further notification will be sent out.</p>

<p><em><strong>NAAAW Coffee House that was being hosted by NLSS </strong></em><br />
<em><strong>for Tuesday, November 15th is unfortunately cancelled.</strong></em></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><em><strong>NLSS Hockey program practice has also been cancelled for Tuesday, November 15th.</strong></em></p>

<p>·         NLSS will be running a special schedule day on Tuesday, October 25th, all four classes will take place in the morning  (40 minutes in length)<br />
·         Student dismissal  and end of day transportation will be at 12:10 pm<br />
·         NLSS staff will be participating in a School Improvement Plan / Student Success learning session in the afternoon</p>
<h5>NLSS Art Exhibition – Tuesday, October 25th</h5>
<p>·         Art for Aids Exhibition – featuring NLSS Student Artwork and our twinned school in South Africa, Music Performances and MPS Grade 8 Bake Sale Fundraiser<br />
·         Free Admission, Doors open at 6:30 pm<br />
·         Plan to attend &#8211; Don’t miss out on this spectacular evening</p>
<h5>NLSS Halloween Happenings</h5>
<p>·         Halloween O’grams will be on sale for a $1.00 at the Student Council Store all week, O’grams will be given out on October 31st<br />
·         Thursday, October 27th – Halloween Games in the Library at Lunch<br />
·         Friday, October 28th – Black and Orange Day, Halloween Bingo at Lunch in Cafe<br />
·         Monday, October 31st – Costume Day / Contest, Pumpkin Carving at Lunch in Cafe<br />
·         Great Pumpkin Prize  – each time students participate in Halloween events their name will be entered in the Great Pumpkin Prize draw (NLSS hoodie plus other spooky treats)<br />
