Pitch-in

• Thursday, May 10^th (weather permitting) NLSS students and staff will be participating in our annual spring clean up of the school and base area of Moosonee – hot dog lunch to follow for all

30 Hour Famine

• Friday, May 11^th through to noon on Saturday, May 12^th NLSS students will be participating in our annual 30 hour famine to raise funds to support world hunger

Thomas is going to attend Camp Kennebec in Arden, Ontario again for 6 weeks this summer. Camp Kennebec is a non-competitive inclusive summer residence camp for young people with ADHD, learning disabilities, behavioural needs and ASD. Programs focus on life and social skills for youth and young adults.

Estimated cost for this opportunity will be $10,000.00.

The NLSS Flea Market will have various venders, yard sale and baked items. Any donations of baked goods or yard sale items would be greatly appreciated.

Soccer shirts will be in this week and the NLSS Soccer Program will start on Monday, April 16, 2012. All games will be played on the Moosonee Arena Pad surface on Monday – Tuesday – Wednesday – Thursday from 4 pm to 5 pm. Moose Factory soccer players that have a scheduled game will be eligible for transportation after their game.

NLSS Soccer Program players are NLSS students, NLSS staff and adult supporters of NLSS. If any parent is interested in being part of the NLSS soccer program, please contact me at the school, (705) 336 – 2900. Deadline for signing up to play will be Wednesday, April 11^th at 3:45 pm. Parents, please ask your child if they have signed-up, team lists and game schedule will be shared this Friday.

NLSS would like to thank the Town of Moosonee for once again donating the use of the arena pad surface for our school soccer program.

Semester 1 Final Exams

All students are required to write 30% final examinations and / or complete final culminating projects for their courses. Students must be in class all morning on exam days; this will be time for culminating activities or review time for final examination, which will begin at 1 pm.

There will be no classes for students from January 24^th to January 27^th.

Semester 2 classes will start on Monday, January 30th, 2012.

NLSS Christmas Bazaar

NLSS annual Christmas Bazaar will take place on Saturday, December 3, 2011, doors open at 11 am and all proceeds raised by NLSS will support a school in Africa.

Non-Perishable Food Items Needed for Elders’ Tea

Once again NLSS students and staff will be hosting, along with the Moosonee Native Friendship Centre, an Elders’ Tea event on Tuesday, December 6, 2011. This event is an occasion to recognize and honour our elders’. Students will be creating craft gifts, making decorations, preparing lunch / baking baked goods and running a non-perishable food drive. Parents are encouraged to support their child in bringing in items for the food drive; donations can be dropped off at the main office.

Christmas Holidays

NLSS Christmas holidays are from Monday, December 19, 2011 through to Monday, January 2, 2012.

Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.

NLSS will be officially closed for Tuesday, November 15th due to a delay in the shipping of plumbing parts needed to fix a broken water line in the school. The water source for the school cannot be turned back on until the broken line is fixed. It is anticipated that the parts will be shipped tomorrow and repairs will be completed in order for the school to re-open on Wednesday, November 16, 2011.

If this is not the case further notification will be sent out.

NAAAW Coffee House that was being hosted by NLSS
for Tuesday, November 15th is unfortunately cancelled.

NLSS Hockey program practice has also been cancelled for Tuesday, November 15th.
